skilgate

Flora & Fauna are based in Skilgate, a sleepy little village with a population of just 96 people.

A Grade II listed church stands proudly in its centre, with a 14th century tower gazing across the undulating countryside. Streams meander through pockets of mixed woodland teaming with wildlife, making it the perfect place for a country stroll.

Just 5 miles west of Skilgate is the historic town of Dulverton, with a few more shops, restaurants and amenities to explore.

Exmoor National Park

Spectacular moorland. Ancient woodland. Crystal-clear streams and dramatic coastline. The Exmoor National Park can’t be overstated.

Exmoor also has an abundance of diverse habitats for majestic red deer, elusive otters, native wild ponies, and some of the UK’s rarest butterflies and bats. It has such importance for wildlife that almost a third of the park is protected under UK and European law.

With so much to see and do you can shape your holiday to be as relaxing or adventurous as you want.

Exmoor is a designated International Dark Sky Reserve, making it the perfect place for stargazing. On a cloudless night, you can see thousands of stars and even the glow of the Milky Way.

quantock hills

The Quantock Hills is one of four Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Somerset, renowned for their wilderness and tranquility.

Panoramic views lead you through coast, heath and combe. You’ll find exposed heathland summits, deep wooded Combes, undulating farmland and attractive villages all within this protected landscape.

Perhaps a little more unknown are the Blackdowns just outside the region, which have a geology unique in Britain giving rise to some rare flora.
